I’m Headed to SPAC 2027! Lets Talk Sports Photography

I'm excited to announce that I'll be speaking at SPAC 2027 (School & Sports Photographers Annual Conference) this January!
A few months ago, the team at GotPhoto reached out and invited me to speak on their behalf at SPAC, sharing some of the things we've learned over the years about sports photography and building a successful photography business.
It's an opportunity I'm grateful for, and I'm looking forward to connecting with photographers from across the country.
For over 15 years, photography has been a major part of my life. What started with a camera and a desire to create something meaningful has grown into two photography businesses, an incredible team, and opportunities I never imagined when I first started.
One of the things I've learned along the way is that photography is about much more than taking great pictures. It's about building relationships, creating experiences, and recognizing opportunities to serve people.
That's exactly what I want to share at SPAC.
Why Sports Photography?
When most people think about sports photography, they immediately think about photographing the action on the field or court.
But there's another side of sports photography that I'm passionate about: creating memorable portraits of athletes while building a business around serving schools, teams, and families.
At Parish Photo Studio, we've had the opportunity to work with athletes at every level, from youth recreational leagues to high school and even collegiate athletic programs.
Along the way, we've developed workflows that allow us to photograph athletes efficiently, deliver professional images, and create opportunities for revenue throughout the year.
GotPhoto has become an important part of that process, helping us organize our images, connect families with their galleries, and provide an online shopping experience for parents.
I'm excited to have the opportunity to share some of those experiences with other photographers.

What We'll Cover at SPAC 2027
My class, Intro to Sports Photography, is designed for photographers interested in adding sports photography to their businesses or improving what they're already doing.
We'll discuss everything from the creative process to the business strategies that make sports photography a sustainable source of revenue.
Some of the topics we'll explore include:
Getting Started: Finding opportunities with local schools, athletic programs, and recreational leagues.
Creating the Experience: Building relationships with athletes and creating images they're excited to share.
Lighting & Photography: My approach to photographing athletes and creating dynamic sports portraits.
Photo Day Workflows: Organizing sessions, collecting athlete information, editing, and delivering images.
Pricing & Sales: Creating products parents want to purchase and understanding how to generate revenue.
Building for Growth: Developing systems that allow photographers to serve more athletes while maintaining quality.
My goal is for photographers to walk away with practical information they can immediately begin implementing in their own businesses.

More Than Just Photography
One of the things I enjoy most about this industry is the opportunity to connect with other photographers.
Over the years, I've learned that some of the most valuable lessons come from conversations with people who are experiencing the same challenges you're facing.
That's one of the reasons I'm excited about SPAC.
I'll have an opportunity to share some of the things we've learned through building Tademy Photography and Parish Photo Studio, but I'll also have the opportunity to learn from other photographers.
I believe there's room for all of us to grow, and when we're willing to share our experiences and help one another, the entire industry benefits.
